Day 72 and counting.

Just a quick update with a few new pictures:

The two pictures above were taken on Trey's 2-month birthday. Tina's going to take a picture of him every month on the 13th, and then we'll put together a flip-book. Watch Trey grow!

(Note: we're really not going to put together a flip-book.)

I think Trey stole this facial expression from me. That's the kind of face I tend to make in a lot of the pictures that I'm in. I plan to have it trademarked.

Note: Trey was not harmed in the taking of this photograph.

P.O. update

Tina took Trey to the "P.O." (the pediatric ophthalmologist) on Thursday. After several unsuccessful attempts to get his pupils dilated, the doctor finally got the dilating eyedrops in and tried to take a look at Trey's eyes. After a few looks, the doctor decided that everything looks fine, but he did notice that Trey is slow on "tracking" things. In other words, if you wave something in front of him, he's a bit slow on following the object with his eyes. Two months is the normal age for a baby to start "tracking" things pretty well, so Trey's apparently a bit behind the curve on that one. The doctor said that it can take up to 3 months of age before a baby gets good at "tracking." So, we have a follow-up appointment with the P.O. in about a month. Hopefully things look a little bit better when we go in for the follow-up.

Appt. w/ a P.O.

Yesterday, Tina called one of the pediatric ophthalmologists that the pediatrician recommended, and she was told that their first opening for a new patient isn't until sometime in December. The only hope that she gave Tina was that maybe there'd be a cancellation between now and then. I think at that point the lady at the P.O.'s office consulted the appointment book and found out that someone had canceled an appointment for this Thursday. So, Tina will be taking Trey to the pediatric ophthalmologist on Thursday. We think it's quite a blessing that we will be able to get him to see the P.O. so soon.

Two-month check-up: Trey went to the pediatrician on Friday (the 13th!) for his two-month check-up. He weighs around 12.5 pounds, and is 22 inches long. That means that he's nearly double the weight that he was when he was born, and he is about 4 inches longer.

Question: at what point do we start measuring his stature as "height" instead of "length"? Does that not happen until he starts walking?

Also: Trey apparently wasn't all that responsive to a light waved in front of his face, preferring instead to stare at something across the room. The pediatrician suggested that we make an appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist, just to make sure that his eyesight is OK. We don't think it's a problem, particularly considering he seems to be looking around all the time. True, sometimes he doesn't look at us when we're up close to him, but that could just be because he's sick of us or something. Tina is supposed to make the appointment with the P.O. (that's short for "pediatric ophthalmologist," which is much too long of a term) today.

Day 59:
Trey in his swing.

Trey, with his Grandma Jordan.

Trey, apparently thinking that he's falling or something.

Daddy and his little boy.

Finally, he sleeps.

Happy little Squirty.

I thought I'd break up the monotony of all the baby pictures by posting a few pictures of our dogs. (Alright, that's not much of a break from the monotony, but just humor me.)

Did you notice the "lounging on the couch" trend? They tend to do a lot of that.

I don't know why these wacky spam emails fascinate me. I just got one of the aforementioned wacky spam emails, and I had to post the excerpt that follows. Where does this stuff come from?? Here it is:

Any vacuum cleaner can non-chalantly make love to a chain saw around an eggplant, but it takes a real mastadon to teach a temporal roller coaster. A bowling ball inside the tape recorder hesitates, and a smelly apartment building feels nagging remorse; however, the feverishly cosmopolitan avocado pit brainwashes the fashionable bowling ball. A blithe spirit over the blithe spirit is hairy. Furthermore, the plaintiff living with a demon earns frequent flier miles, and a tripod of the defendant inexorably brainwashes the bowling ball over an oil filter. If the senator gives a pink slip to a Eurasian fundraiser, then a rattlesnake from a carpet tack hesitates. Another mitochondrial particle accelerator

A freight train related to a food stamp Sometimes a somewhat mitochondrial fairy flies into a rage, but the college-educated corporation always completely avoids contact with a fundraiser! Sometimes some sheriff for a mortician prays, but the magnificent cowboy always is a big fan of an asteroid! Some defendant is righteous. The cosmopolitan traffic light single-handledly secretly admires some tattered tabloid.

Day 51 and counting...
We've taken to calling him "Squirty." I think it all started the day he was born, when I commented that he was a "little squirt." We're making the effort to start calling him "Trey" as often as possible, though. Here are some recent pictures of Squirty, I mean Trey:

Big Brother is watching you.
